I think that the language-selector-gnome must have caused some confusion
somewhere because I have run some more test in VMs where simply removing
that (no need to remove im-config though) will make "Japanese (Anthy)"
and a few others show.

I have found that after switching from Xorg to Wayland via the login
screen on Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 with GNOME 3.22 that the "Show location of
pointer" gnome-tweak-tool option no longer functions in the sense that
when the setting is on and I press CTRL nothing happens.

menu and go down to Artistic and then when I move my mouse to where its
pull-down menu is, I find that suddenly it jumps to the File men
