Can you please confirm that the filesystem of that disk is in a good
condition ?
If it's NTFS then it would be better to check it with a Windows tool.
If it's linux filesystem (e.g. ext4) the you can use fsck tool.

If I restart LightDM, then I can select a session.
By this I can understand that the "change session" icon works only the first
time. Something is happening when you login and from that time onwards the
icon becomes unresponsive.
You must restart LightDM in order to somehow "reset" it and icon
What I've found (and maybe help developers) is that if I login and
logout from the Guest Account, the Icons (both "change session" and
"change language") are fully responsive.
Maybe something with user settings ?

Yesterday I installed the Trusty Tahr (daily build) and I can say that
this bug affects this version as well.
An interesting thing is that I cannot change the indication neither from
XKB or i-bus, nor from icon (mouse click). It stays there as (En) for
ever.

Although the logout process is still buggy ? but this has nothing to do

A workaround for this bug (until get fixed) is to add a startup
application that kills ibus-daemon.
I've tested and it worked for me. I've tested CTRL+C , CTRL+V and worked
as they should.
As my gnome-session-properties doesn't always working (sometimes Core

(3.16.0-25-33) is not working. Of course the -proposed repositories are
always enabled in my testing system.
I really don't know what happened, but I can assume that the latest BIOS
update changed something. Yes, I have updated my BIO
@penalvch I just got the latest Kernel (linux-image-3.16.0-26.34) but
unfortunately it does not work either.
The only kernel that still works is listed in comment #33 above.
I have attached the results.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
reboot and see if the error still exist.
I cannot reproduce it and maybe is not related to [systemd].
Also
systemctl list-units --failed
could give us a clue, suppose the problem is related to [systemd]

Since day one, when I have switched on systemd as PID 1 , the service
[systemd-modules-load.service] always exited with a FAILURE status=1.

my /etc/modules file has been modified by me, when I tried to fix the
failure of the service. But I can assure you that didn't contain
anything related to "off" or similar. Now it has only 'lp' module
there. Maybe it was related to 'rtc' ? because when I removed 'rtc'
module the warning:
