i have same issue with constant freez of whole system, i am using latest
opensuse tumbleweed, and system is not usable, one thing i did find out is that
if i switch in bios to use integrated intel graphic on my i7 4770 and switch
hdmi cable to motherboard i did not have a single issue o
This is annoying bug, its happening to me when playing Heroes of Might
and Magic 3, i need to log out and log back in to fix resolution.

Not sure if i looking in correct folder for that file, i did look
/sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/, but nothing there, is that file maybe removed
after file bug , or after restart?

I did install both browsers you suggest and did not notice flickering, maybe
if there is some url where i can confirm for sure that is working fine.

formated (clean), later i did try ubuntu live from cd and try that
animation link and it was working fine.

You could be right at the end, i did pull out from my laptop one ram
module, one or two weeks ago, and i don;t have any problems anymore with
gpu
