Uh oh, it's back.
But I do have some more information that may be useful.
It seems to trigger after some uptime. Rebooting into the same kernel
and versions of packages yields color video with xvideo (in either
totem-gstreamer or vlc). Before the reboot the same video played black
and white. I

Here's the output of "xrandr --verbose" on this machine. It is using a
85hz vertical refresh rate, I hope it isn't a requirement of the card to
have the xserver wake with the same frequency of the vertical refresh
rate since the driver for newer ati cards doesn't exhibit the same
wakeup issue.

Installing azureus_2.5.0.0repack1-0ubuntu1.1~proposed1 fixes this
problem on gutsy also. I have tested the proposed package continuously
for the last two months and the crash has not recurred (and azureus has

xorg). This bug hasn't seen much in the way of developer attention so
it can *not* suffer from scope creep.

This machine has been running feisty for 3 weeks and has had this
problem three times so far. X and console are unresponsive, but I can
ssh from the ethernet connection.
