I, too, have this issue. I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit. I can get
around the issue by reinserting the blank media after I have it all
ready to burn. Not a terrible workaround, but slightly annoying.

only after a hard reboot - currently dual booting Win7 + Ubuntu Natty
Looks like the package in Ubuntu 22.04.03's repositories is 3.5.1. I can
confirm that this bug is no longer present as of this version after
repeating the same steps I tried almost a decade ago :D
