I have xubuntu version 12.04.

there are two similarly named settings:

An odd feature, NOT a bug, of the widget library xfig is based on, is
that (at least by default) textfields are selected by hovering your mouse over
the textfield,
not by clicking on it.

This is a workaround, which does essentially the same (I hope), without having
to revert to an older version of ghostscript:
Simply invoke xfig using:
xfig -gh 'gs -dDELAYSAFER -sPermitFileReading="[ (*) ]" -dSAFER'
Note: This allows the gs called from within xfig to read all files.

the trackpad which worked under in Maverick (at least scrolling did and
