This has effected me also. Just bought a new laptop and installed
UBUNTU. switch on, 2 minuted delay before the first splash screen
appears where you can enter the BIOS. How far away are we from having a
fix to this?

hm, could be that my problem is a little different than yours. When I
start up the computer there is an immediate delay of about two minutes
before I get to the very first ACER welcome screen where I have the
chance to get into the BIOS. Are you talking about the same kind of
delay?

Public bug reported:
Updated kernel from 5.0 to 5.3. After reboot, resolution appears to be
something like 640 x 480. Accessed (with difficulty) display settings.
Monitor is shown as unknown device. Tried reinstalling kernel, problem
remains. Can still boot successfully into previous kernel.
