Thanks for a response. I could not get it to fully install on two other
computers either. (installer crashes) One with win98 that runs pretty
well. And my main computer with win xp pro that runs flawlessly. I went
and put win 98se on the computer I was trying to "clean" install
Ubuntu/ Kubuntu on,
interesting. Like I said above, I did
get the Ubuntu system to install. Before I give up on Ubuntu (Linux),
any help on this would be appreciated. MarkSGT

Hi, I'm pretty new to kubuntu, ubuntu etc. I purchased kubuntu ver. 6.06
from a ebay seller. I tried to do a clean install on an older intel
computer with a celeron processor running at 466 Mhz, and 256 mb ram on
a 20 gigb fomatted hdd. I

I did run "check cd for defects." The results were:On
the two Kubuntu 6.06 disk I have, were showing all
"ok"s untill it reached
"checking./casper/filesystem.squashfs." The blue
progress bar cycled through a few times, then showed:
"mismatch" then continued checking the disk. Followed
by all "ok"s
I did not burn these cds. One was purchased from an
ebay seller. And another was sent to me from the
Kubuntu Shipit site.

I did another "check disk for defects". At the end of
the list it stated: "Check finished, 1 checksums
failed". Both disk showed this.

Is this an automated responce?! How many times will I be sent to the
same site showing me how to run " check cd for defects"!?!

cd from ubuntu shipit and will try that one. Hopefully
