I've attached a WMV file. Once you will place the file on your desktop
for example, you will see a Gstreamer error. Please right click on the
file and go to Properties Nautilus will immediately restart
itself... or it will freeze for a few seconds, then restart.

Yes, it's all related... Totem, GStreamer, Nautilus, ffmpeg:
- The files do not play at all in Totem When you open them, Totem freezes.
- Nautilus fails because GStreamer/ffmpeg can't render the thumbnails (please

I've updated feisty 2 days ago and since then, xine is broken first
of all it doesn't show the preview on videos in konqueror, and second of
all whenever I wanna play a file with a xine-based player, I can't see
the video but I can hear the audio track. I had to switch on

It doesn't matter the /etc/fstab or the /boot/grub/menu.lst files... and
the new UUID.

I've just updated the linux-generic package to 2.6.20.12.8 and I've
removed the modules I put in /etc/initramfs-tools/modules file... then
rebooted the PC and everything works like a charm :)
P.S.: I am still using the 2.6.20-11.18-generic kernel image.
I'll upgrade the kernel image to 2.6.20-12.

and he checked for updates, nothing was found.. the the crash window

After a dist-upgrade on 11/08/2009 I started encountering this issue.

I confirm Robert Joynt's fix is working on HP Pavilion x360 Convertible
13-u103nq. Thanks Erikas for the systemd workaround, but let's hope it
will be fixed soon upstream, especially that there's already a patch [1]
in place.
