In fact, this bug is still present on Gutsy. Overwriting the fonts from
the old versions cited on comment #8 fixed the problem in all
applications.
Please check this bug as it seems to be major from the end-user point of
view, as the Condensed variants are already much used.

I can confirm this fix didn't work for me either, just like Datadog
recently said.
I'm using Ubuntu Hardy "final" for AMD64, a Nvidia 6600 board, with
Nvidia drivers from the Ubuntu repository. Moreover, I changed the
window decoration to Emerald, and I'm still experiencing the same
"wonky-ness" o
Radeon eXpress, BCM45
series wifi card, 1GB RAM, and I'm using enlightenment and Gnome.
After suspending or hibernating, it resumes fine, but when I try to run any
application, the system freezes.
Do I need to provide some more information about my system or any dump?

I have tried to chance several options inside /etc/defaults/acpi-support, as

No success. So, I decided to test if my system could hibernate from console,
using /etc/acpi/hibern
I have reported that acpi=off solved the problem after trying logging
in/out 10 times, all of them with success. However, today a did more

This is the same problem, If you press CTRL+ALT+F2 (i think) when
installing you will see the output of installation, with all that is
happening. In the main screen of installation you won't see that the
installation is trying a download.
I DIDN'T ACTIVATED THE NET - This is the problem

This problem has occurring because the automatic detection of LAN is
wrong.
To install the Ubuntu alternate you need CANCEL the automatic detection
of LAN and configure manually your lan, and PUT YOUR *NAME SERVER* (DNS)
IN BLANK. so the installation will continue very well.

The best solution to implement in Ubuntu is change the automatic
detection of LAN to put the DNS in blank, and change the manual
configuration of LAN to not auto complete the DNS server.

Well, I have customized my desktop, to the shape I used to use.
I've have done this:
- Move the notification area to the bottom panel.
- Added the Ubuntu logo for the system menu.
- etc.
I attached a complete screenshot to see what I have done. You can see
pisdgin's icon with wrong drawing.

When i run gnome-settings-daemon i get:

The program 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)'.
(Details: serial 3407 error_code 1 request_code 151 minor_code
I can confirm it in hardy :(

I have same that this bug ever take place when a come from an Windows XP
reboot.
I'm saying: I boot windows then reboot and enter in Ubuntu. If I don't
change cd-tray state, it will hang.

I have found the error in the source code. It is the same error in
gcalctool 5.20.1 and 5.20.2.
I attach the diff file of display.c
I'm afraid I could not test if this patch works fine or not, so I give
