So in reality, the wiki instructions are incomplete (or wrong, depending

Since people treat Mythbuntu more like an appliance than a desktop, I

Related problem occuring in Hardy/8.04.1.
ntop not previously installed gives funny messages which appear to be the
result of incorrect ownership... /var/lib/ntop is owned by root rather than
ntop. Since it is recommended that users NOT run ntop as root, the directory
seems like it should be

with LIRC if you do that.
I created http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Gyration-
based_MCE_Remotes and showed how. Intrepid's 2.6.27 kernel should fix
some of the incorrect keycodes generated by the remote as well.

Adding mythbuntu. It seems to me that the " & wait" should make things
more reliable and predictable rather than less, so I must be missing
something. Any danger in removing the " & wait"?

Unfortunately, upstream can't determine a source with the current
backtraces. There is a remote chance that the second trace is
filesystem related, so please try a fsck (and might as well throw a

Hello, and thank you for helping to make Mythbuntu better. This issue
is blocked by Bug #153457 (lirc needs to support it) - although
hopefully that is being resolved in 9.10 / Karmic with the recent lirc
0.8.5 release (I'm assuming 0.8.5 supports the device).

This has been fixed upstream on trunk and will therefore be included in
the upcoming 0.22 release (as well as Karmic / 9.10).
We have builds of mythtv 0.22 available on a PPA to test. Please follow
