Try dowloading the newest upgrade, it helped me.

This is a common problem, i'm surprised that the solution (pretty simple
actually) hasn't been implemented yet, since it can tracked down to feisty.
Its basically the same bug as

When I shut down Hardy (8.04) first, the gdm takes a long time (about a minute)
to shut down. The GUI dissappears and this is what's on screen at the time:
setting up ALSA
starting anac(h)ronistic cron
starting deferred execution scheduler
starting periodic command scheduler
Same here, it started after i upgraded my RC into the final. But here's
a good solution: if you start Hardy using the old kernel it works much
better.

It is _NOT_ a duplicate. There is a difference between a Usplash problem and
the shutting down of a OS which can take up to over two minutes. Please
address the the Network Manager error.
