I don't have this problem with Edgy Beta installed on a harddisk. With
Edgy Beta live CD I don't get the option to set the computer into
sleep/standby mode. Just shutdown, hibernate and reboot. Maybe sleep
mode is disabled by default?

When using gnome-appearance-properties it kicks my CPU to 100%.

Probably my problem is the same as yours, lets see: I copied files from
a SMB server to my local desktop. The original files have read-only
permissions and so have the copies on my desktop. The result is that I

Ok, I found the way in Synaptic to downgrade particular packages and
reproduced the error. Where can I found the debug log files? Last time a
window popped up and asked me to announce the crash; this time Firefox
just crashed with "Segmentation fault (core dumped)".

I used Firefox with some tabs open. After changing from another
application back to Firefox (Alt+Tab) it crashed. Unfortunately I don't
have any other information and can not reproduce it. Hope it helps

An user has no permission to execute the "reboot" command but can press
CTRL+ALT+DEL (in a TTY) to reboot the system. For me this is
inconsistent and I don't see any reason why it should not be either both
possible or both denied.

For me this problem was not present in Edge but is (still) actual in
Feisty. My root partition appears once as "Filesystem" (German:
Dateisystem). When double click to this it browse to "/". A second time
my root partition is listed like it's partition label (which is
"Ubuntu") or as "20GB-Datenträ
