Suffer exactly the same issue with a Dell Latitude D505. Intel 855GME video chipset. Upgraded to RC and stem stops on restart. Tried reinstalling from RC disk and suffered same issues with a known good CD. -- [i855gm] xorg with 2.6.32 kernel halt system when load on Intel 855GM with xserver-x
