When loading the current Ubuntu jaunty iop32x kernel into a Thecus N2100
with the d-i initramfs, the boot hangs after "Uncompressing
Linux.";
using a Debian kernel with the same parameters and initrd works fine.
Just for the record, I couldn't ever reproduce the issue myself, even
when I tried within an intrepid virtual machine with libxine1-all-
plugins installed.
So far, we had a first xine-lib upload which didn't make it to -updates
due to a -security release coming first; this was confirmed as solving

I tried installing libc6-xen on a hardy xen domU.
First, it's not picked up automatically; ldconfig -p reports no nosegneg
dirs, so it's useless; if I create a /etc/ld.so.conf.d/xen.conf with
"hwcap 1 nosegneg", these dirs appear in the "ldconfig -p" output.
Second, if
I checked the Debian glibc packaging in SVN and it doesn't build with
-mno-tls-direct-seg-refs by default and does ship a
/etc/ld.so.conf.d/libc6-xen.conf in libc6-xen; I didn't check whether
libc6-xen takes precedence over libc6-i686 on a Debian xen doMU though.

My "libtool" script in a random project (gtk+) was full of "^A" chars
(\001); examining the build log, I could see that some Makefile.in.in
would call: $(SHELL) ./config.status
I confirmed that after ./configure, libtool was ok (no ^A), but after
"/bin/sh config.status"
Please don't overwrite the Recommends -> Suggests change; it's to avoid
a dependency on an universe package.

Stefan, I grepped the upstream kernel sources and the only mention of
"p6_mobile" is in arch/x86/oprofile/nmi_int.c and this file is identical
to the one in ubuntu/ubuntu-jaunty.git.
The git log of arch/x86/oprofile/nmi_int.c claims the detection was
fixed for p6_mobile.

Tested with:

after the Ubuntu MID install, I was offered to reboot into the installed
system; Xorg came down after a couple of seconds, but came back later
and was unusable (mouse / keyboard didn't respond) I tried switching to

Dave, if we don't re-exec upstart it keeps using the old libc and
prevents remounting of the / read-only; this puts users at risk of data
loss so is more critical.
