This bug has been open, clearly described and with a trivial solution for month
now (April 2006). If nobody has cared to fix it for Edgy (when the bug has been
there to fix since Dapper's betas) what does it mean to say that it's too late
to fix for Edgy?

New qgo version fixes the bug (that also appeared in Debian). That
version (1.5.1) appeared in July, 13, and is present in Debian but
Ubuntu only has a 1.5-r1 version.
If someone could merge Ubuntu's version with Debian one, or tell me how
I could request a merge, that would be dreatly appreciated

I was trying to install the card the same way as in Dapper. I didn't think
there was free drivers yet for the g650+, and was using ndiswrapper. If I don't

Adding export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 to /usr/lib/firefox/firefox
didn't work for me.
However, since flah-plugin crashes under a 16 bit colordepth X session,
editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf and changing the colordepth to 24 solves the
problem for me.

This problem seems to have been fixed for me in Feisty final release.
However, it could be only in my locale (fr_FR).
Steps to do after a clean install to verify:
- System>Administration>Language support
Check "Chinese" then Apply

Same problem here with a GeForce 7900 GS.
The problem might be linked to the fact I also have an internal nvidia
graphic card (6150) and only occurs with nvidia binary drivers. Use
lspci to detect the bus your gcard is connected to then manually change
it in xorg.cong works also.

(thus neither Gimp nor any other X program can see it).

hotpluggable. At the moment in Ubuntu, if you unplug your USB tablet

You're right. Since Herd 4, Chinese input has been playing tricks : two
times, after some updates, scim IM has been enabled by default (without
having done anything) then gone away.
In Feisty Beta, the bug is still there and an user has no way to input

Colin, I just had the same bug appear with Feisty beta desktop cd (no
problem with Herd 4 and 5).
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
and us was indeed proposed instead of French (I did a French install,
selecting French keyboard before booting Ubuntu and in ubiquiy)
I'll reopen the bug for now,
I tried again with Feisty Beta and after manual install of wacom-tools,
I get /dev/input/wacom created.
Seems like no improvement from Dapper.

(maybe because I chose French/France at install).
That might be the difference between our systems. The two computers I've
tested have the same locales
