I suppose that I have the same problem. I have attached a screenshot
showing the different appearance between ff3 and konqueror. In firefox
the frame around the text is being rendered not there where it should be
but somewhere over the text making many pages difficult to read. I use
the ati(radeon)
After various changes in my xorg.conf for other reasons (dri, compiz
etc. ) I decided to try the dual monitor issue again and I realized that
I can't reproduce the both-sides-cropped display on the external monitor
anymore.
With the laptop display off I could also change the resolution of the

switching from XAA to EXA solved my problems with an ATI Mobility Radeon
X700 (RV410 - M26). I don't get any freezes with Compiz enabled any more
even if I try to run more 3d Applications simultaneously. I have tested
it for about 3 weeks before I post here and I had no freezes at all. For
my card
I agree. There is no sense in adding a launcher for this tool in the
menu without gksu in front.

unfortunately I hadn't seen this bug report before. I think it is related to
what happens with my bcm4318 on an asus laptop. In my case the "HarwareDirvers"
doesn't do what it is expected to do, like discribed in the first post here.

I have an Acer Laptop with the Graphic Card ATI Mobilty Radeon X700
running Hardy. I use the open source ati driver. When I plug in an
external monitor in the VGA output of my laptop, xrandr recognises it
but can't set its resolution. After activat

Hi,
the problem with the retarded shutting down is still there with the
network-manager-0.6.5-0ubuntu16.7.10.0 . Occurs always with an Ad-Hoc / WEP
wifi, works fine with a non-Ad-Hoc / WPA wifi. I can avoid the problem by
disabling Wireless over the nm-applet before shutting down.
