Same issue here, it is the second time.
Ubuntu 20.04
Just wake up, and my laptop was locked the entire night, I unlocked it, and see
the dialog. No other actions.
Alt+F2 and "r", removed the dialog.

Have the same issue. My system:
Ubuntu 16.04.5, latest updates. Unity desktop.
Nvidia 384.130 driver.
DisplayLink 4.2, tried also with 4.1, the same issue.

Can't confirm if this is Nvidia or DisplayLink or both drivers
Just for notes, my terminator worked without any issue until I enabled
workspaces.
Now, with workspaces, it start to crashes periodically, several times a
day.
I'm almos 100% sure that it is related, as, enabling workspaces was only
change I did before terminator started crashing...

Happens the same to me, in Ubuntu 16.04. Some time I can't even
authenticate by fingerprint, and need to type the password to login.

16.04 is Long Term release, and it keep maintained up to Apr-2021.
And fprintd is keep crashing, I barely can use it now.
BTW. it was worked perfectly for a while on the same Ubuntu.
Probably some updates killed it.
