theses kind of problems disappearing themes, Gtalk server timed out, but

I am also having this problem but i figure it out. There may be a
firefox running in background
In terminal type "killall firefox" it will close all firefox. If you
start firefox then you hear the sound.

I tried capturing trace of gnome-panel. I think i am doing some thing
wrong. Since gnome-panel is already running, I am not sure is this the
correct way of doing. Also if i kill the process it restarts again
immediately.
