@klerfayt: Note that I have updated the PPA test fix once more. Please
update and confirm that version udev (151-12~kamal~volkeys2) still fixes
the problem on your Mitac laptop. Again, thank you very much for
reporting the problem and for your continued help testing the fix while
we work towards
Thanks Jerone -- yes, I also confirm the fix for the Dell Studio 1558.
I also note that there are reports of the exact same problem on other
(non-Dell) laptop models (LP: #42043, LP: #374884). The same fix is
likely to work for them too. Would you like to address those bugs, or

I experience the same problem on the same Dell Studio 1558 model.
The problem still occurs in 2.6.32-19-generic #28~pre1 SMP Wed Mar 31 14:57:35
UTC 2010 x86_64.
More recovery notes: after getting into the bad state, you can regain a
working desktop by switching to Ctrl-Alt-F1 then back to Ctrl-A

@Carlos - Looks like the problem must be due to some other than the
SCI_EN issue - sorry that didn't do the trick. No need to apport-
collect again, that test kernel won't supply any more useful data than
submitted previously.

Folks, I suspect a problem with one or more of the test kernels that I
recently produced (sorry for that, I'll sort it out ASAP). We know we
had suspend/resume working reliably for the Dell Studio 155x machines
using the kernels mentioned in comments #5 and #9.
