Both static and active blur seem to work ok now on Radeon X800 GTO (R480
chip) with the fixed packages.

I also have to set TapAndDragGesture=1 to make "double tap and drag" working.

I fixed it in Ubuntu Natty (kernel 2.6.38) by adding the following parameter to
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX line in /etc/default/grub
"ata_generic.all_generic_ide=1"

I would be wary to remove the offset check. I'm not really into that
code, but removing it will break offsets when there actually is no name
in that Info1 struct. Can anybody provide a tcpdump/wireshark capture
file of a smb connection that causes mentioned segfault?

Good (or bad?) news: It works. Pinentry starts and does its job.
I can also use gpg with kontact/kmail and I'm prompted for the pass if
needed.
Any other ideas?

Is anyone at least caring about this problem? Can we maybe have the old
via driver back? I'd really like to see Intrepid Ibex on my laptop. In
dozens of forum on the internet I can see questions popping up regarding
this topic, but nobody answers them anymore. Really Sad.

Xorg freezes on start
Update: Now the internal display is correctly disabled and the external
display is set to its correct native resolution when gnome has started
up (docked boot, haven't tried an undocked boot). The login screen still
exhibits the original wrong behaviour, but this is far better than
before.

I was able to stop the flickering with my Samsung SyncMaster 214T (connected
via DVI) and the X4500HD.
xrandr --verbose lists two modes for 1600x1200. Using the "preferred" one
(which is selected automatically on startup) causes flickering, using the other
one has worked fine for the last 40 min
I just tried petri0's script on a Dell Latitude E6400 (X4500HD). Both suspend
and hibernate worked, it resumed successfully.
However, sound didn't work until /etc/init.d/alsa-utils was restarted. Fiddling
with the volume controls in gnome-volume-control before restarting alsa-utils
had no effect
I've been using mode 0x4a for over an hour now. The flickering is not
completely gone, but significantly reduced. It happened only a few times
in over an hour as opposed to every few minutes with mode 0x49.
