Right, I get that. But what I saw that struck me as "new" was the iwlwifi-6000-4.ucode firmware bundle; I haven't seen it before, and I THINK that it's being referred to in the 6250 (and other) drivers as the appropriate firmware blob in the latest development snapshots. Am I wrong? -- Intel Wi

I've reopened this bug, as it's been over a year since this has been reported, and it's still a common question. It's obviously not a bug, but adding a context menu to this icon that would permit disabling of the functionality would go a long way towards making removal of this icon more intuitive.
