Just to eliminate the risk of some HW issues I downloaded the older 9.10
release and tried Live CD
Everything works fine! sound, graphics, averything! Summary: my 8.10 works ,
9.10 Live CD works, 10.04 Live CD throws crash detections and freezes the whole
system.

9.10 and performed clean install. No swap partition remained from the
previous installation of Ubuntu. Also resume, fstab and "sudo blkid" were
having the same UUID for swap partition.

I can confirm seeing this on Thinkpad W550s. Grub menu is there, but not
visible on screen, which is stuck on previous bios output. Installing

case anywhere in the rest of the OS, it shouldn't matter that the text

click "Places -> Home Folder", amarok will start. That same goes for "Places ->
Desktop and other folders that I have in "Places". After uninstalling
amarok/kde everything is fine.

the virtualbox-ose-modules are built and ported to the official repositories a
always bit later then the kernel. It used to be always like this. I think it's
just a matter of time, when the new virtualbox-ose-modules fo
I just copied /lib/modules/2.6.24-17-generic/misc/vboxdrv.ko to
/lib/modules/2.6.24-18-generic/misc/vboxdrv.ko and everything works fine now.
Then run depmod so you can just type 'modprobe vboxdrv'.
Or you can keep the old '2.6.24-17' kernel booted.

Using amsn 0.97 from ubuntu repository it ask me to download a TLS module, but
then it doesn't work testing Intrepid 64-bit (no problem using version 0.97.1

Hi,
I had the same problem after upgrading from 8.04 to 8.10 with NVidia. It was
