If you set
innodb_recover=1 in the config file mylvmbackup tries to run mysql to perform
the innodb recovery on th snapshot. The pid-file argument isn't being passed
correctly and the recovery process fails.

Binary package hint: ec2-api-tools
In /usr/bin for every command like ec2-describe-snapshots there is an
ec2-describe-snapshots.cmd.
The .cmd files are wrappers for windows. COuld they be removed from the
package they just pollute the tab-completion namespace.

After purging the package, removing the directory .local/share/gnome-do/
and re-installing it I no longer have this issue.
I have no idea what the root cause was, but the issue is resolved.

This -proposed package fixed up all my system. For others with the same
problem though note that you will probably need to restart CRON and
possibly other services to make the problem go away.

I think the problem is that the amd64 version is out of date. Check
http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/libgoogle-perftools0 and you'll see
that it's still 0.8-5.1 for some reason. Maybe the build is failing?

I've recently solved this problem. I upgraded from gutsy to hardy and
everything seemed to work fine. Up until I removed the xen-utils-3.1
package. For some reason after the upgrade I had xen-utils-3.1 and xen-
utils-3.2 installed.
The postrm script on the uninstall removes the following symlink
This bug is pretty painful if important directories like /var are on
LVM. Totally breaks the boot process.
Going into a maintenance shell and doing
dmsetup mknodes
then exiting the shell is a manual work around

I am also affectd by this bug on Precise. The issue affected a pidgin
chat window. I could click on links in the chat but couldn't see the
window. You did see the window kind of disappear of to the left when you

The summary pretty much says it all. When I reboot my machine squid-deb-
proxy-avahi doesn't start up, it needs to be started manually after.
I've also noticed that restarting squid-deb-proxy will cause squid-deb-
proxy-avahi to stop.
