open-vm-tools 11.3.0 has been released on June 18, 2021 containing:
- a number of bug and Coverity fixes.
- command line tool to control various aspects of the vmwgfx Linux
kernel module (open-vmtools-desktop)
- comman
VMware has not seen any problems with the beta image release at the end
of March.
Will download an iso from https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/
to test, but if we should be using something other than the "current"
daily image, please provide a link.

One thing that comes to mind is to check the VMs hardware configuration.
The amount of memory available to the VM will affect the amount of
memory that can be dedicated to the graphics display.
In my Workstation, the recommended minimum memory is 2 GB for my Ubuntu 20.04

Sorry for the delay. I believe your assessment is correct and 12.5.0
is probably not needed back on "noble".
The only change of any significance is the changes to accomodate newer
releases of libxml2 and xmlsec1. I suspect those are not going to be
upgraded on UB 24.04.
