I've tested upstream and can confirm it still happens.
The failure I'm seeing now consistently is that when it resumes the backlight
comes up and capslock light works when in x, but nothing draws on the screen. I
can even ctrl-alt-fN ctrl-alt-del to reboot cleanly (nevertheless I need to

had to disable firewire to test 3.2-rc5 because it's got an even worse
case of lp:894070.

I have been able to test with an external monitor, and it works.

An update for those of you following along at home: a modified version
of this patch is being real-life tested right now; we then need to
change it slightly to get it ready for 12.04, at which point we'll SRU
it to that, and 12.10, and 13.04.

Possibly related, when I start it from the commandline as "emacs", the
same thing happens (it doesn't get picked up by the launcher icon). When
I start it as "emacs23" I briefly get *two* icons in the launcher.
