Another quick workaround (if not already posted somewhere else) that
worked for me:
- install xwit from using apt-install or synaptics
- add the following line to /etc/gdm/Init/Default or another script that gets
called by gdm prior to login

I just bumped into this issue, too - having NFS homedirs under
/shared/home.
Adjusting the apparmor tunables "home" as posted in comment #11 fixes this

The image viewer within gwenview (I've no idea on which component that
is based) is obviously using a hard-coded color mask for displaying
images instead of asking the X-Server what color mask to use.
For non-mainstream X-Servers (like Xnewt for

encrypt the file.
But after saving I can't open the file anymore.
As i am curious I tried to open the file with libreoffice on Windows
(after setting up gpg :-) and it works fine. So I draw the conclusion

It works under Ubuntu Linux 20.04 as well. Unfortunately only if you
"disable" the apparmor rules for senddoc or set it to "complain" mode.
In this mode the rules are not blocked, but they are logged.
I have not yet figured out how to functionally adjust the rule so that
it also works in "enforce"
And still does not work in Eoan Ermine (19.10).
