No, pidgin closes without any warning or error.
Even when you leave the computer on, without opening anything, pidgin closes. I
opened pigdin from terminal, and this is the last line: "Segmentation fault"

Just to let you know, the only way I've found to recover the mouse
pointer while preserving the current user session is by entering the
SUSPEND mode and then restarting the computer. This way, after the video
driver settings are restored the pointer is visible again.
