I've been following this bug for a while, but not as closely in the past
week or too.
I have a Dell m1330 Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated
Graphics Controller (rev 0c). I've been holding off upgrading because of
the intel bugs. I'm wondering if it's relatively safe to upgrade to 9.0
I'd also be happy to see this fixed! It's been a few months since scale
has worked properly, and I eventually forgot about it until now.

I tried the solution that torstenaf suggested and it didn't work.
Then I went ahead and tried Marcus' hack recommended by earlier posters
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/275998/comments/109).
This worked for me and fixed skype, but I couldn't get sound recorder to
work, altho

I have a similar problem with my m1330, however it only seems to happen
after resuming from suspend. Additionally, it seems to turn off my free-
fall sensor. I'm not sure if it matters if I have the AC cord connected
or not. I filed a separate bug (Bug #413730)
