xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.99.904 adds support for virtual displays that
can be used to clone to discrete outputs. The tool to do this is
included with the xserver-xorg-video-intel source (with not-so-great man
page and all), but the binary is currently not shipped by Ubuntu.
The package in precise-proposed does NOT work for me. Flash/firefox
doesn't always shows the gnome-panel in fullscreen mode, and VLC starts
out working fine, but the panel shows up after ~15 seconds. I was trying
to submit an apport report as well, but I'm not sure if that succeeded.

Crashes in iwlwifi after u
I realize my wording is ambiguous. What I'm seeing is that WLAN just
stops working at the time those messages in the syslog appear. I am then
unable to get wireless again by standard means: rfkill on/off doesn't
help, rmmod hangs or fails with module busy. The system won't perform a
clean shutdown
I'm having trouble reproducing. It might only happen in certain WiFi
conditions. I'm currently running 3.13.0-44 and have
v3.13.11-ckt13-trusty installed, and will switch and test when I'm
getting failures again.

I've been trying to use the optimus nouveau switcheroo patch, but when I
switch to discrete, the screen just freezes. Switching back to
integrated does work.
