By forcing the latest update of 2.6.27.10 for linux-restricted-modules and linux-image, my iwl3945 started working again. I was originally having the same issues that it wouldn't even start iwl3945 :0c:00.0: PCI INT A disabled but now by forcing the update, it works well. -- iwl3945 no scan

It turns out that using raw mplayer works so only gmplayer that has the issue. I temporarily solved it by editing the /usr/share/application/mplayer.desktop file to add in command line option -ao oss as mentioned here: http://linuxwindows.org/2008/05/ao_alsa-unable-to-find-simple-control- pcm0.htm

The font work around allows it to start for me too. It is really small and one has to reset font to use. It appears that many of the fonts that come up in the selection box don't work . So that might be a good clue on what the problem is regarding emacs and lxde/lubuntu, something to do with fon

I have this problem too, please increase priority since emacs gtk is dead. This also affects ubuntu-lucid 10.04. Emacs was working fine until the recent upgrades of other libraries like libc? Same issue, works in terminal mode but gtk mode throws Arithmetic error and exits. Linux 2.6.32-26-gene
