Public bug reported:
I suspect this is an NTFS-3G (ntfs-3g 1.2216 external FUSE 27 - Third
Generation NTFS Driver) issue, but I'm not certain. When copying files
between Ubuntu Hardy 8.04.1 and Windows XP SP3 (NTFS partition) on my
computer, the filesystem sometimes becomes damaged. It is worth
Poking this bug. I just received this problem as a regression during my
upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 (64-bit); issue was not present in 10.10
(system was successfully running grub2 before this upgrade). Can't find
this detailed/resolved anywhere.
Relevant versioning lines from my dist-upgrade in
I'm now running this system under 10.04 and with ext3 only. The NTFS
partitions have been migrated away from, so I am no longer affected by
this potential bug. I suppose it's a fair time to kill it off. Thanks
for the follow-up!
