I could reproduce this by setting the application launcher dialog to
shortcut Shift+Alt+8 and Shift+Alt+9 using a german keyboard layout
(deadgraveacute) where Shift+8 represents "(" and Shift+9 represents

Think MS Comic San Serif in English, but about a 100 times worse. It
