After Googling around I wonder whether the problem might be in the "hp_wmi"

Thank you for spending the time on this, Dmitry.
I have tried your tester app and Ctrl+~ is not working for me in Ubuntu
24.04 (Gnome 46).
I have also realized I made a mistake (Alt+Shift+F7 works fine for me)
but what does not is Alt+Shift+?. I changed your code to use

I have tested it both on the real DE and also VM. Created a new account
in VM (no settings adjustments whatsoever) and still it does not catch
those shortcuts.
I wouldn't mind the decorations but the shortcuts issue is weird.
Especially, if it works for you.
Btw. your tester app has correct decor
I did the same, although I have patched only the kodi.bin manually
The segfault is something that Kodi suffers from. I wouldn't be worried about

Yes, this issue has been driving me nuts since the beta of 24.04. I have
even reported this but cannot find the ticket, better there is a
separate ticket though. I think this affects qt5 apps somehow and I have
a workaround to "remember" the maximized state. I can reproduce this
anywhere and also i
I am not. This happened on a production system, which needed to be fixed
ASAP, and I have no other system to try it on, nor it happened on any
other system that I upgraded.

I have come up with a reproduction code (main.cpp)
Just compile with:
g++ main.cpp -o testapp -fPIC $(pkg-config --cflags --libs Qt5Widgets)
1. Compile
2. Start the app, maximize the window and close/quit
3. Start the app again, it will not start maximized
100% reproducable on any Ubuntu 24.04

I have been kind of hoping somebody would address this issue in the
upcoming Ubuntu versions but it is the same for 24.10, 25.04 and now
even 25.10 (have just tested).
The reproduction is really simple. Compile my code from the post above
and run the app.
1. [Bug]
- maximize the window and close
LOL still nothing? WOW! :D

I have installed Debian 12 (with Gnome desktop) and tested it. It works

uses.
