I can confirm that even after removal of the CDROM line from my fstab, I
still get a shortcut on my desktop to "CD-ROM Disc", whether there is a
CD-ROM in the tray or not. CDs are still unreadable though, when I
double-click the CD-ROM Disc icon I am taken to the burning screen, and
it's not a blan
