Think I have found the fix. First I made the mistake of manually
installing Lightning.oxt. I uninstalled the extension and used Synaptic
Package manager to reinstall the package from the Ubuntu repository.

No sound. Does play the bongos at the log in. Tried to follow the
Comprehensive Sound Problems Solution Guide, but to no avail. It does
find my sound chip however. When putting in "aplay -l" I get the

Solved, just used the restricted install of kernel 2.6.22.-14.47. The
sound is very low, but at least I have sound.
