Hello, I solved this problem on Artyom's system. The problem is UEFI and GRUB.
Solution to the problem:
should get this error (just install the system)
reboot the system from the media from which the system was installed
as soon as you go to the GRUB menu, press C and write:

Hello, I've already solved this problem on Artyom's laptop. The problem really
affects UEFI and GRUB. Solution of the problem:
1. Get this error (just install the system)
2. Reboot the system from drive with installation image
3. As soon as you'll boot to the GRUB, press C and write:
set root=(hdX
It is strange this is a known issue for 4 years and there is still not
resolved. It is highly annoying as end user to lose window focus all the
time I switch languages, which is common for bilingual environments. Do
I really need to recompile X to remove an issue, which I observed only
on Gnome She

This worked (taken from prev comment):
sudo apt-get remove light-locker && sudo apt-get install xscreensaver
(I already got xscreensaver, so just the light-locker remove was
enough).

Hi,
I had this bug recently while upgrading my ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04
I was upgrading via synaptic and at a point it crashed.
After that I re-run dpkg 1-2 times and it remembered its progress and
went all fine.
In the end it ran its --configure process...
I had to run dpkg

I am using mysql server package 5.5.22-0ubuntu1
the fix above says it fixed this bug which is named "Mysql fails to
start after upgrade to precise"
I dont think so:
Bug symtoms:
- my mysqld still does not want to start (even when I use a more recent
mysql-server version than the one with the
short version of the above fix:
( my OS is Ubuntu 12.04 precise with mysql-server-5.5.22-0ubuntu1 )

workaround - right click and choose paste from the menu.
if right click does not work - hold shift and then right click...
a nice take away is that shift + left clicking allows me to select and
copy paste text in konsole and guake !
no more f3 to begin selection and f3 to end it and then f5 to
strange note - if I create a new linux user test124 and try editing a
file with mcedit - the paste works ok...
same text pasted whille I am using the non-test user does not work in
mcedit...

yes #12 fixed it for me.
I have a dell xps 15 l502x running ubuntu 12.04 xfce - alsa only - no
pulseaudio.
My alsa-info.sh gives me:

It seems to be because wine also installs fonts-unfonts-core, which
isn't removed after uninstall. I can be wrong, but removing this package
fixes the problem.

my 2 cents - I played with alsa/pulse switching in the options... the
same noise.
then I turned the Dolby surround off ( was Auto before that ) - noise.
( After each )settings change I restart vlc )
Finally I turned the dolby surround on and - no noise initially but on
the second restart noise a
anyways discussing with the mc team now.
note: Newlines are converted to spaces.
