I'd bump into this issue, 9.04 clean install with nvidia restrict driver
(also happened to the driver 173 and 180 from nvidia sites). Not yet try
to close the compiz.

This happened to me when I mis-configured my network connection during
install. The installer seem to get stuck at some point but it was
actually insisting on downloading updates from the internet even if it
cannot resolve the addresses on the sources list. The 4th virtual
terminal tells what's goi
I can confirm this.
Running updated Xubuntu 6.06.1 on IBM Thinkpad A22m. Log files attached.

I also am having the problem with *.vob filetypes. Is this something
that has no fix, because I did not see a fix when I went through the
messages.Perhaps someone could advise us in downloading an alternate
video program or alternate drivers?
