I am facing the issue with a Lucid
Removing the dmraid package worked for me also.
aptitude remove dmraid
Before trying that, I tried the following which did NOT work:
- choosing AHCI for SATA mode in the BIOS
- choosing the other options for SATA mode (i.e. options that were not the
default which is "IDE mode")
- choosing the no
The reporter said "this seems to be fixed", to me that does not seem
100% sure.
The bug is still present in Karmic. Killing gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor
does not help.
After killing gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor, it almost gets there:

Usability issues with desktop user accounts without lo
I read through https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs and asked
on FreeNode #ubuntu as I did not know what package to assign it to. I
tried searching "User Settings" suchlike to find a package but in the
end thought it best to report it this way.

I have all my important files stored on an NFS share. I use the
"Makefile" Highlight Mode for text files and if I set them on files that
are stored on locally mounted NFS shares then that setting will be lost
if I close and open the file again.

I was about to report a similar issue. My issue was with HDDs >2TB in
size with GPT partition table with Software RAID1.
