Hey guys,
Let's use this bug tracker to get the problem fixed. Can we please keep
the discussion of whether or not to pull the CD image to the forums or
mailing lists? This is a place to talk about the bug *itself* and how to
get the bug *itself* fixed, not to discuss the implications of this bug.
Hey, upgrading to the latest version of linux-backports-
modules-2.6.24-21-generic fixed this bug completely for me. Plus, now I
get to be mesmerized by the little blinking wireless LED.
Thanks, everyone! You all rock.

If we don't pull the images (we should, but I won't comment since it's
already being discussed), it might be a good idea to at least make the
words "permanently inoperable" on the Alpha 6 testing page in big, bold
letters so users have less of a chance to skim over that part.

Hey all!
I've browsed through the NVIDIA Linux forums, namely this thread:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=114858
and have come to some reasonable conclusions based on what I found there.
1. Firefox uses XRender to display pages now
2. NVIDIA cards are slow with xrender: http://
Hey all!
Here's an attached version of my Xorg.conf file with the driver shipped
with Ubuntu.
Of particular interest is lots of "EDID" failures. Please note that
these error messages do not appear with the latest Nvidia driver.
So what gives? How do we disable EDID in the Xorg or something?

It just started working for me. Like literally, *just*.
I opened pidgin, and disabled every other account except my MSN one (which
failed to connect, not surprisingly) to make looking at the log file easier
I then ran pidgin with --debug and captured the log to a file. To my

Epic. It seems fixed now, and we didn't even have to submit a patch.
Should this bug be closed?

I have this exact problem. Completely wiping my compiz configuration
didn't help to fix it, I'm afraid.
After a quick chat with someone in #compiz-fusion in freenode, it seems
like this problem doesn't affect the current git version of compiz.
I think it's a package in Hardy.

Hello there! I have exactly the same problem.
According to iperf, my computer has an upload speed of about 4MBits / sec. That
means about 500Kbytes/sec. However, all other computers have an upload speed of
about 10 Mbits/sec.
The interesting thing is that download speed is right where it should
The latest version (as of Jan 7 '09) of iwl3945 from the compat-wireless
project seems to fix this.
On another person's open wireless network:
Intrepid's version: up: 1.0 MBit/s, down: 3.7 MBit/s

Seems to be much better.
However, I couldn'
This bug seems to be fixed on its own.
The pidgin devs were right- seems like it really was an MSN server
outage.
Maybe we should have a rule not to create new MSN outage bugs within 24
hours of it happening to avoid clogging Launchpad if it resolves itself
again..

I turn on the computer. The printer shows up as running, but when I
print something, the first job (after the reboot) never prints, I have
to go to the cups WebUI and "start" the printer. After that, it works
great.

Hmm, interestingly, this only seems to happen when the first job was a
