Hm, spoke a little too soon. The mouse generally works fine but there is
still some odd behavoir in Chrome.
* If I click on the tab by clicking on the right of the mouse I get the
aleternative right-click behavoir, as expected.

The weird mouse behaviour is a problem Google Chrome has in Ubuntu.
Default behaviour is that the middle mouse button closes a tab and you
can't turn this off. There are not enough settings for the mouse and
none in Chrome to turn off the middle mouse click. This is a problem
with an Apple Mag
