Thanks for your fast reply. This was also what I was thinking of first, but the problem remained even after I had uninstalled and reinstalled the latest nvidia drivers about 4 times in the way you describe it. In jaunty I always used the latest nvidia drivers from nvidia directly and never had

Solved: I did a dpkg-divert --list *libGL* there it showed, that there were diversions between two previously installed libGL versions: diversion of /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2 to /usr/lib/nvidia/libGL.so.1.2.xlibmesa by nvidia-glx-180 then I did: ls -la /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2 and finally removed th
