@ashrack: please calm down... ubuntu devs have a lot of work to do and
this bug is not very urgent since most of the people using Ubuntu on the
desktop will not need to recompile their kernel at all. However, I
agree, it should be solved "somewhen".
BTW: I managed to get that fglrx module compile
Nope, we tried to use the fglrx-kernel-source package, which is part of
the "restricted" component. However, it was not possible to build the
module for custom kernels from this. I just mentioned a solution using
the ATI installer that is working for me, but this does not solve the
original problem
o fix a problem, why should this be refused? Just
because one does not _need_ to do it as it's not an official feature?
Well... I don't want to rub it in - just think about it ;o)

Which Ubuntu version is this? I can not reproduce this in Ubuntu 14.10
and also not in current Ubuntu 15.04 daily. Screenshot of Ubuntu 14.10
with light-themes 14.04+14.10.20141015-0ubuntu1 (utopic) attached, with
Ambiance GTK theme and Numix icon theme showing, same result with
default ubuntu-mono
I can confirm that this is indeed not reproducible in current Ubuntu
15.04 daily.

This might be of help in addressing the problem with Ambiance GTK theme:
apparently, only the outlines are displayed in their colour, not the
