I have this problem too, but not at every startup. It only happens
sometimes. Also gnome-tweak-tool often crashes (similar to comment #15 )
and sometimes screen locking behaves weird (see attachment) - I can take
a screenshot and it lands in my Images folder, but I can't alt-tab, or
anything like t

Disabling only Windows Overview Tooltips didn't seem to work, but disabling
appindicatorsupport extension too seems to help.

it happens:
- no additional parameters -> won't boot
- acpi=off AND nolapic -> boots (wifi and resolution errors, but it doesn't
matter).

It didn't help. I tried booting without any special parameters and it
doesn't work. (But I didn't try with only acpi=off or with only
nolapic.) I thought photo of screen can help, because kernel complains
about some incorrect checksum (as it did before).

I disabled HW acceleration on my Precise and everything is OK. But
comment #164 gives valuable information and you should follow this guide
instead of just disabling HW acceleration.
