Hi Jeremy, I already use the current beta of lucid (including all updates) and
have not had this issue any more.

this bug was reported by apport after the reboot (and login)...
Just after startup programs were loaded ,the apport icon was shown- I

I tried to fill a photo in an existing contact using drag&drop.
This worked fine till karmic. I can reproduce this
