This appears to have been fixed in 2.7.8-0ubuntu1. At least I don't
perceive a difference between the menu and the rest of the panel any
more.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: mysql-server-5.0
I upgraded from Dapper Drake ( amd64) to the Edgy Eft for testing on an
SMP Intel Xeon ( em64t ). During the course of the upgrade the mysql
package could not successfully configure itself. Whenever the
installation scripts tried launchin
I'm currently trying to build with debugging symbols to see if it might
make things a bit more obvious, but mysqld is actually crashing in
rec_copy_prefix_to_buf().
Just for fun I tried running Debian's binary, since it's being built
from what appears to be the same codebase with the same patch ap

I did some poking into this tonight, and it looks like this started
happening in 0.0.24 when the gconf entries for max_port and min_port
were added. Previously there were just command line options that were
specified as defaulting to 6881-6889 (gnome-btdownload-0.0.22/man/gnome-

I started doing builds this evening to test it and found that removing
132_composite-no-clipping.diff from the build does prevent the crash
from occuring.

I'm wondering, are all of you who are having problems using an intel
chip or are some of you using AMD? MySQL works just fine on my home and
work machines which are Athlon 64s running Ubuntu AMD64. My Intel based
server is the only one having the problem.

Even without updating to 0.0.26, it's a trivial fix. Here's a patch that

I installed the package from edgy-proposed and it has addressed the
original problem of Mysql not starting. So far mysqld is running
smoothly. Thank you all very much for getting this fixed.

Is there a special process we need to go through to request a backport
for this? MySQL as packaged in the repository is still nonfunctional on
Intel's xeon cpus.

Thanks for the test case Lucas. Although it's probably obvious, I just
verified that your test application generates an illegal instruction
error on the original machine I reported the bug for.

Just to throw in on this, I'm running 1.6.2 on 14.04.3 and it's not
working here either. Specifically I see it running /usr/sbin/haproxy -f
/etc/haproxy/haproxy.cfg -D -p /var/run/haproxy.pid, but
/var/run/haproxy.pid doesn't exist.

Ha, sorry about that - I crossed the wires in my head a bit.

Anyway, should this work for 1.6?
