Hi,
I am the submitter of duplicate bug 57.
This issue has been "fixed" for me by doing the following:
sudo gedit /etc/default/grub
change : GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
to : GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet acpi=force"
sudo update-grub"
This worked for me.
Unfortunately Robert's Fix only worked once. Now nothing on the
"Shutdown" menu works at all.

There's definitely a bug in the updated kernel.
If I boot up in the 32-21 kernel that shipped with the original install, the
shutdown options work exactly as they should. If I boot into the 32-23 kernel,
then they don't work at all.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a shot when I have access to the

I haven't yet seen 0.6.1 hit the Ubuntu repositories. Is there one in

Hi again,
Sorry about the delay. We have wifi working on this laptop courtesy of
the madwifi project. I wrote a small script that is called from
/etc/rc.local that updates the madwifi modules every time there's a new
kernel... I've attached it below. I think it works, although I've not
