Hi all,
I will try to explain my problem as clear as possible, but is not an
easy task since I still do not understand where is the problem. I've
upgraded my hardy box to intrepid a pair of weeks ago.
The problem is that after some times that I use Gnome (with or without

I do think that this is related to Xorg server, since before crashing,
Xorg starts to eat up the CPU for a while. I cannot find any log that
show a strange behavior. Do you have any suggestion? This problem is
getting annoying!!

I can confirm that this new version fixed the problem for me. Now it
works as soon as I log in!!! Hope that it works too at home.

I've got a trick to solve the problem.
Just kill NetworkManager with sudo killall nm-applet, press Alt+F2 and type
nm-applet, now the connection should work!

I'm still facing this problem, but now I've understood what is the
trigger that makes this bug happen. It appears just after having
modified the brightness of my notebook's display!!!

Btw, it seems to be a compiz related problem. By disabling compiz the
problem is completely solved.

It seems to be definitely related to Flash, Xorg starts eating up the
CPU just when I am on a flash-site, when I close the single tab having
flash everything returns to work fine.

Yeah, I thought so too.
Now I've tried with Valgrind, it seems it finds something interesting.
The bug has been reproduced with mail-notification already running and
waiting for evolution. Hope this will help.

Man that's strange, I ran the script, installed pavocontrol, rebooted
and now everything works fine. I suppose that some of the dependencies
that were with the program fixed the problem. Also because I had
rebooted before to see whether the problem could vanish.

Today when I booted my Intrepid machine, no sound were there. Some
updates must have ruin PulseAudio. Now what I get as output is just some
nervous metallic sound.
To fix this I had to manually kill PulseAudio:
sudo killall pulseaudio

1. Open gstreamer-properties (alt+f2, enter gstreamer-properties)
2. Change to the video tab
3. Change the default output plugin to "custom"
4. Place the following command in the bottom box: videobalance hue=-1 !
