random flickering problem whilst using Firefox.
System works very well now. Using a 750 Ti with driver version 337.25 on
64-bit 14.04.

Gah. Looks like I'm going to have to install a different distro. 4 GiB
of RAM is not enough memory to run vanilla Ubuntu 14.04 these days it
seems. :-( System is frequently paging and interrupting my work.

As another data point, I too am experiencing system freezes
sporadically. Similar time spans to John. I find that switching to vc1
with Ctrl-Alt-F1, and then switching back to X thaws the freeze. When I
switch back to X from vc1, the screen is black, but once I open the
dash, parts of the screen ar
I'm starting to suspect there's a memory leak in this compiz package,
though I don't have the exertise to verify. All I can offer is that
compiz has a size of 1.6 GiB in memory at the moment, which seems
excessive for this program. I'm finding that my system is paging
