In my LUG (Toulibre, France), I've made an installation on a laptop Dell
latitude c600. I used the alternate CD of xubuntu 8.04.
The installation need "acpi=off noapic" options to start.
After the installation, Ubuntu refuses to start without those options.

Same problem on my Asus Z92J (also A6J), with xubuntu 8.04.1.
There is three key that doesn't work (and which works with 7.10) : the
WWW key, the eject key, and the "Power4Gear" key, which start
/etc/acpi/lockbtn.sh.

I had the same problem (Intrepid, Asus EeePC 701). I tried the new
version of the driver (packages from option 1.), and now everything
works!

Same problem with an Asus Z92J notebook and a fresh Ubuntu Feisty (and
no on Dapper or Edgy). I've tried the fix of plosco, but it failed.
